Popcorn instead of rice hulls

I don't know about corn kernels, the most commonly suggested alternative I've seen is oat husks.
 
Yeah I had read that somewhere as well but again they are not readily available (for me anyway considering some feckers charge £15+ P&P to N Ireland) thats why im thinking corn. Their kernal is moisture proof and they only pop after heating their internal moisture to a ridiculous pressure so I'm thinking they should be good for a wheat mash (or any mash with a chance of sticking)...only one way to find out!
