Decided to get a brew on today, its in the mash run the now , I'll post pics later . Here's the recipe I decided on if anyone is interested.

Pale malt 3940g
Crystal 215g
Black male 650g
EKG 6.45% 70g start of boil
EKG 6.45% 15g 15 mins
Irish moss 15 mins

Hopefully hit these figures
Og 1042
Fg 1011
Ac 4%
Volume 23l
Mash liquor 12l
Mash temp 66deg
Mash time 2 hours
Boil time 2 hours

Hopefully turns out nice does the recipe look OK ?

2 hour mash was cause had orders to get housework done so gave me more time to get stuff done. And meant to put 90 min boil

650 g of black male -is your middle name Hannibal?

Not a fan of black malt-don't really think it adds much apart from colour. Roasted barley might have been better,or chocolate malt. Did a porter not long back just with 50g of EKG bittering hops & that was lovely.

LOL, Black malt and I have fallen out big time...

Check my AG#11 thread for a "700g of black in what should have been a bitter" recipe...

Resorted to big hops, caramelisation and vanilla pods to try to make a decent beer. It's in bottles and I think with time it should be good.

I'm actually looking forward to this as sample from trial jar tasted lovely, here's a few pics
Grain bill

Mashing in

Refreshing drink while brewing

Digital thermometer broke so this had to do till I get a thermapen

Temp after mash ended up nearer a 3 hour mash
