hello beer people

doing the youngs IPA this weekend. bit worried about a blow off. don't fancy doing a shorter batch so would there be any prob with leaving the lid on the loose for a couple of days after pitching to prevent this eventuality?

Leave the lid on, if you Can catch it when fermentation kicks off just crack the lid.

The co2 produced will provide a 'blanket' over the beer and you will be fine.

I use air locks, many here don't.

so leaving it loose before isn't good but after is?
Russ146 says in the recent youngs IPA review that he brews short by two litres and tops off later. has anyone else done this? it looks good on paper but wouldn't there be a risk of oxidation..

The gas created during fermenting co2 will act as a 'blanket' over the surface of the beer, preventing oxidation and nasties.

How did it turns out? You should be in krausen country by now.
