Hi all

Does anybody no of a good guinness clone stout kit?
Ive just brewed one kit (forgot the name now think it was called irish velvet) which was nice but would prefer one closer to guinness. im willing to have a go starting from scrath if you could recomend a recipe for a beginner.

Ill post some pics of my stout some, just need that nitrogen!!

Thanks

Lloyd :drink:

In Dave Lines "Big Book Of Brewing" there is a recipe for "Goodness Stout" that he says is as near as you can get to Guinness. If it's Ok to to copy this to the Forum I'd be happy to:

7 lb Crushed pale malt
1 lb Cracked roast barley
1 lb Flaked barley
1 oz Bullion hops
1 1/2 oz Keyworth Mid-Season or Northen Brewer.

I assume the moderators will take this off if it's not allowed :nono:

Thanks for the recipe cussword :thumb:

Ive never made a brew from scrath any chance you could post the instructions?

Just one thing what is Keyworth Mid-Season or Northen Brewer are thay hops too? :wha:
id love to have a go and see what its like

If its Guinness your after then you can't go wrong with Genius :D The recipie is not my own but from a former forum member
3.75 kg Pale Malt, Maris Otter
1.00 kg Flaked Barley
500g Roasted Barley
Northern Brewer hops to 34IBU if you can't get Northern Brewer then substitute for Northdown for the same IBU's
Genius in my opinion is much better than Guinness which now i've thought of it I might have to make some at the weekend
