I'm going to do Graham Wheeler's Cocker Hoop recipe. This uses 28g of black malt to help make the colour comparable to the original. Can I replace this with chocolate malt or will it have too much effect on flavour? I'm assuming it won't as it's only about a half percent of the grain.

It's a good recipe. I did use black malt, but I'm not sure your replacement would make much difference overall. I found it better on draught than bottled, slightly smoother and more like the original.
