That looks lovely ... if it were me I'd lower the IBUs to between 45 & 50 .. but that's just my preference, I love my hops but like to keep them lower in a stout.

Good luck with it, at 15% it should be a cracker! All them grains are going to take up a lot of room!

Room is 72ltr mash
Hopping is about right for me the last Ris was 75 IBu
Oh that colour profile came from beersmith!

I would ditch the treacle for the same % of plain white sugar
Add some (10%) amber malt for some of the pale,
Add some dark crystal (5%)
swap the Chocolate and Roast Barley Around (2Kg Choc / 1.4Kg Roast)
. . . possibly reduce the roast (to 1Kg). . . it ain't going to make a massive (observable) amount of difference to the colour

Hops wise you want to be aiming for about 0.9 BU:GU so ( 152 * 0.9) around 130 IBU, double the amounts you have used . .. and I would consider a flavour addition at 15 minutes / switch off Steep. . . . Northdown or Bramling X would be a good choice.

Ok all taken on board :D
Right time to learn again please!!
How does the hopping relate to the %abv???
Your effin is 11% and 74 Ibu but your telling me I need 120 -130 Ibu for 16%
And what and how do you get those firgures from???
And how is those figures in relation to 0.351 IBU/SG
And what does the Abreviation's mean. Apart from IBU I know that one!
Teach me Teach me!

Actually my Effin is 96 GU and 105 BU ;)

Looking at other recipes in places like Durden Park and Designing Great Beers.

Generally as Gravity rises Bitterness must rise to balance the beer . . . . and bitterness can rise disproportionally at higher gravities

GU - Gravity Units, BU - Bitterness units, for an Imperial stout you are looking at a BU/GU ratio of about 0.9 So Bitterness divided by Gravity should be about 0.9

and dont forget you can get another brew from the sugar left in the mash tun by doing the old fashioned way 2 brew fro price of one. second one could be a sessions stout about same abv as guinees or murphys

Right try this Looks more impressive

Now that does look like a plan, I think that might need an outing on the Bridestone "Bards Brewery", I should have a big false bottom to test sometime soon.

With it being a RIS would it not be better as "Rasputins Rubber Ducky"

UP

I'm going for a thicker mash so it'll rim the 80 ltr TB
The name might be a play on another beer out there and the true intentions may be found from that. ;)
