After clearing up i found a bag of wheatgrass seed. Must be 4 years old at least. Wondering if i can still use them? Was going to add some to a Witbier as apparently produces a permanent haze but don't want to end up with a stale tasting beer. Was thinking 500g in a 23l batch.

Maybe try a small batch like a 1gal or do a split batch and just add it to some. That way if it's god-awful, which from what I've heard about wheatgrass is a distinct possibility:lol:, you haven't lost 23l of beer.

I would say yes. After four years old their probably stale but it might well condition out after a while. I once made a mild with stale mild ale malt and it initially had a twang like a kit so I left the beer to condition for maybe 4 weeks or so and it tasted fine then, no twang.

Could you try crunching a couple of grains in your teeth. If it tastes stale or rancid then I would avoid.
