Maybe that's related to the element failures that people have reported? Lots of cycling, more chance on element failures? Clutching at straws with that really

I don't think that would wreck the elements that quickly, if at all.

I'm not electrically minded so don't fully understand the technical side of it but I'd rather not take the chance. After several years of boiling a stock pot on a gas hob I'm more than happy to watch the Ace boiling the nuts out of the wort

All that switching under load is the bigger issue with the contacts wearing out.
