Going to Cuba, so I called my GP's surgery and was told they don't do travel vaccines any more and I need to call MASTA who don't seem to answer the phone and there website offers a £20 appointment in 2 weeks 6 miles away. Don't know if anyone cares but I feel I wanted to get it off my chest.
Cheers.

Won't your surgery do it privately?

I know when we wanted to get the meningitis jab the surgery would £25 a shot with the vial costing £75 per vial from the chemist

Do you have a 'superdrug' nearby. Some of them do jabs.Take a look on google

If you are going to one of the resorts you may not need all the jabs. Anyway try Boots. Some jabs may still be free on the NHS.
I went to Cuba a few years back, and we drove around the island (rather than being whisked to one of the resorts).
If you are doing the same you will either like it or you won't.
It's the sort of place you have to be careful recommending unless you know the person really well. I enjoyed it.
Havana is far safer than the back streets of London. Poverty is rife but the people are friendly but have been badly let down by the regime. And like all socialist utopias there are places where there are very wealthy people.
Cuban 'motorways' were interesting. Just like the day when the Russians quit in the 80s, minimal trafffic, and cows and folks on cycles.
Enjoy.

No nearby boots or superdrug do them, since I am still covered for Hep A I think I only need typhoid and maybe tetanus so am thinking of going to a local private practice that charges £35 for tetanus and £50 for typhoid.

That's in the region of what I paid to a private clinic last time I needed travel jabs. The time before that I had them done at my GP and the cost was similar.

When I had my last round in 2006 & 7 they were all free (on the NHS) at my GP except yellow fever.

Terry I have booked flights to Havana for 2 weeks for me and a friend and cheap £30 a night for a twin room accommodation. Do you think its worth travelling around the country, are there some must see things or is there enough to do in Havana? Any tips welcome.
Cheers

Havana is incredible! Hot and noisy with music on every street corner, it's as vibrant a city as I've ever been to. Loads of great bars and restaurants, great architecture and, of course, the cars. An amazing place. Enjoy!
