Had a spare 'child-less hour' today so made a brew. Liked the Coopers IPA but thought it lacked a certain, like the French say, 'I don't know what'...

So

1 Can Coopers IPA Kit
500g Light DME
700g Brewing Sugar (dextrose)
1 ltr 'Hop tea' (1 oz Goldings boiled for 10 mins)

OG 1047 - thought it would be higher due all the fermentables added???

Let's see, will report back.

that fv is included in the Coopers starter kits I think, unfortunately they don't sell then separately. and a very good fv it is no air locks required the gasses push the lid up giving it its nickname of " farting bucket " or burping bucket.

I reckon that OG was about right - they reckon to use a kilo of sugar or BKE to get to about 4.2%, so with your 1.2KG that would sound as it should be.

With those extra goldings, that should have a great taste. I dry-hopped a Coopers Real Ale kit with 20g and it made a huge difference...

Just put in cornie plus 7x500 ml bottles.

FG 1.010 which equates to about 4.9% - had about 300ml left for a taster, delicious. Sweet, as expected for this stage and hoppy - really looking forward to a few weeks time!
