The Rich get richer ...

... and the Government tries to fudge the figures; as usual.

According to the BBC a report by the "think tank" Resolution Foundation states that the gap between "the rich" and "the poor" has been growing since the middle of the last century.

As an illustration they point out that at the moment:

1% of the UK population own 14% of the nation's assets

... whereas ...

15% of the UK population either own nothing or are in debt.

The government has responded by saying that income differentials are at their lowest level since the mid-1980's.

For any Forum Member who is unaware of the tactics used by this government to fudge hard facts, I would like to point out that ...

"WEALTH" (i.e. ownership of money, shares, property etc)
is NOT the same as "INCOME" (i.e. money generated by work).

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer and our leaders not only don't give a damn they try and deny it! :doh:

I wouldn't worry about it. If the poor got any more money they'd only spend it at McDonalds / on cases of Fosters and maybe get a new back-to-front baseball cap every three months.

That's just broken my dream. Dreamt I'd bought a scratch card last night and it was a big win !!

Dunno about scratch cards, my mate won ÃÂ£101,000 on lotto four years back - 5 numbers + bonus ball. Mind you he's always been lucky and come out the other side of situations and scrapes smiling, the kind of guy that could fall into a vat of ***t and emerge smelling of roses.

The thing is myqul there is only an infinite amount of money in folks pockets and they make it twice as much and harder to play and double the odds of getting anywhere near winning it by adding more numbers to the draw,as for roll over,disgraceful if no one has the 6 numbers it should be shared with the 5 number ticket holders.they are just challenging peoples pockets for greed and gain

We stopped playing when they increased the price I think for us it's the best thing they ever did, it was a **** set up from the start they should have run it like a raffle everyone gets a number and every week someone wins, I wold rather they had several ÃÂ£100,000 winners than one millionaire.

I have only done the Lottery once in all the time it has been going and got two numbers right, and that was enough for me.
However I volunteer for an organisation which regularly gets money from the Heritage Lottery Fund, so thanks to those who still try to defy the odds every week, we've got your money :thumb:

Our lovely (top performing) Tilley, Tiree island wind turbine was part funded by the lottery. So we would like to say a big Thank you to all those who paid through the nose for a dream.

We are living your dreams up here. Although, some would say nightmares;

Even worse - we usually waste it on things like fruit, vegetables and shoes for our children. Bastards that we are!

It's quite common for areas of the country where their's not a lot to do (especially if their poor) to have high rates of alcohol/substance misuse.

However I am a 'brother in arms' when it comes to doing my part to increase the the drinking rates in my part of the world :thumb::mrgreen:

What's the incentive to work harder for many that don't have good qualifications or the drive when they can get money in the bank for signing on...

There's a women who used to work at a local school not on many hours who ended up giving up the job as she earnt more doing nout!
