Hello,

Has anyone who has a car tyre valve fitted on their 5 Gallon Pressure Barrels managed to fit a pressure gauge that can be left on with out leaking any pressure. I've got the type of valves fitted below on my barrels and would like to fit a gauge that I can have on all the time (this after I had to replace a faulty rubber washer on the s30 valve after my brew went flat :-( )

Hay anybody had any success fitting one ?

the tyre valve solution is best suited to taking the odd test rather than displaying current pressure 24/7.

for a permanent gauge i would suggest forgetting the tyre valve as ypu will need an adaptor between 5/16x32 fine thread and 1/4" bsp with some mechanism to depress the valve, or requiering you to pull the internal valve.
could get expensive and complex..

instead fit a gauge direct perhaps?

an ebay gauge showing upto say 40psi with a 1/4" bsp male thread should be easy to find.

use a 1/4" bsp tank connector like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bulkhead...hash=item3d4d6de45b:m:m1d3t-HMjQnUu1F_3J666Fg

with a 1/4" F to 1/4" F bsp connector like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hydrauli...hash=item43fe734e51:m:mKKsjAoX-G8oipv8y2qs9yQ

with a good wrap of ptfe to fit a guage..

you may need to cut some silicone baking sheet washers to seal the tank connector or you could again use a good wrap of ptfe ;)

btw ebay links are just the first ones i found not recommended sellers or the best prices just illustrations.

Cheers for the reply Fil, might just leave the tyre valves on and check more regularly, and of course drink it quicker
