Hi chaps,

Did my second AG brew recently - a clone of Thornbridge's Lord Marples Classic bitter that I worked out from a few sources. Had a first try (admittedly only a week into warm conditioning ) and it had a lovely clean flavour, but a bit 'thin'.
I'm looking for a rounder, maltier (dare I say, sweeter) balance against the hops, but don't know how to do this. I thought about increasing the grain bill, but would this not just increase the strength? Does anyone use lactose or other non-ferment able 'sweeteners'?

Certainly not lactose. The mash temperature and the yeast choice are two obvious considerations to think about first. Mash high, around 68C. Use a yeast that leaves some body. What did you use?

Used White Labs liquid English Ale yeast and mashed at about 68c. Maybe it's just in need of a bit further conditioning?

Yes could be. Make notes each time you drink one to track how it changes.
