WLP051 California Ale V Yeast
From Northern California. This strain is more fruity than WLP001, and slightly more flocculent. Attenuation is lower, resulting in a fuller bodied beer than with WLP001.
Attenuation: 70-75%
Flocculation: Medium to High
Optimum Fermentation Temperature: 66-70°F
Alcohol Tolerance: Medium-High

has anyone used this and what do you think??

I am thinking of doing a brew with just maris otter and first gold but looking for a slightly fuller flavoured yeast than the usuall us05, s04 etc.

robsan,

this has been my go too yeast this last year! It is a cracker. Like the blurb says, slightly more fruity than other american styles, with a bit more residual sweetness. Drops out VERY well (never has to add finings). I tend to mash at 66-68oC and with wlp051 you get bags of body.

FWIT first gold has been my favourite pale ale hop this year as well, so I recon your plan of using WLP051 and 1st G will result in a cracking beer!
