Morning morning!

Took a flexi day off work in an attempt to stay sane and escape the miserable madness of work... some may say it isn't working :P

No better way in my opinion of spending a day home alone than to get a brew on!

So after a very late start I have mashed in :

6.92 kg MO
0.31 kg Pale Wheat Malt
0.30 kg Crystal Dark
0.08 kg Chocolate

90 min mash at 67deg C

Grain shot :

Cheers PD! :thumb: :D

The HLT is working hard to bring the sparge water up to temp today I know that much! It is only just going to make it in time with any luck!

Mash done.
Sparge done.

Achieved my 60.1litre pre-boil volume.

Sat at 75 degrees C so still a way off boiling.

I really should look at getting another pot to convert into a boiler. Currently use the same pot for HLT/Boiler and it doesn't half add to your total time!

A little over on my pre boil gravity. Was aiming for 1032. Got 1035 (corrected)

Hops all weighed out.
Going for somewhere around 23 IBU.

30.7 grams Challenger at 90 mins
26.9 grams EKG at 15 mins
47 grams EKG Steep at flameout.

I am hoping it will give me a 4.0 ABV easy drinking session bitter.
Not too challengingly bitter, (See what i did there :D) dryish (using WLP 007) with a nice malty undertone.

As to what it is Joe.... no name as yet.... I had a few bits and bobs to use up but ended up buying more grains and extra EKG to use the other bits up!!!! :D (That was my excuse anyway!! ;) ) It is loosely based flavourwise (he says hopefully!!) on Bristol Beer Factory Seven.

It will be racked into one of my firkins when it is ready and will be on a hand pull at a friend of mines Christmas party. I am guessing it will be christened with some cheesey Christmas brew name :D

Who turned the lights out !?!?! :D

Must make sure I get a decent start if I brew again before Christmas :)

Right, all done :)

47 litres at 1038. Was after 1040 but missed it by 2.

WLP 007 pitched and FV cosied up in the fermenting fridge.

Just the boiler to do now...... I might be lazy and deal with it tomorrow.
