Morning all,
Well the shiny shiny head is firmly on with me at the mo!!
I've upgraded my AG system with a GrainFather and the gf hot liquor tank and TartenSpecial got me thinking about the shiny shiny Conical FV.
05:30am ding ding!! My few brain cells left got stirring and as I was getting up to take our lass to work all I can think is how much I've spent on FV's, and one I think is one is a bone of contention!! Think the lid is US..nothing on the bubbler! So as long as I get some cling film today I might be able to safe the batch!! Hoping there's no infection....
Thinking back this was use with the milk choc stout that dint go right!! Hmmmmmm!
Anyways just started on looking at the first one from the Malt Miller ((£165 + shipping n vat)
Thinking on the YouTube could I assemble the parts with my good hand etc (if our lass is away working??)
Any deals on the net etc?
Obvious ease of operation once set up is a bonus.
Any help advice would be greatly appreciated.
Now going to re-name my self
Shiny shiny manxnorton...

I dont like the look of the plastic tap very much. Here are some cheaper alternatives.

Quite like the look of the 2nd one.

My savings is burning a hole in my pocket!!! :-;

I've got the Chronical but it is expensive and the ball valves have to be dismantled which is not a one handed operation (but otherwise ferments quickly and consistently). The Brewbucket looks good but if I were going for it I'd go for the brewmaster bucket..£20 more expensive but it has a thermowell and digital thermometer so you can see the temp inside the fermenter. I was surprised how much heat is generated in the first few days fermentation (3-4 DegC above room temp) so I now ferment in a cool (16 C) room for first 3-4 days to keep the fermentation temp at 20 C.

If your going for the Brewtech brew bucket I'd go for the brewmaster version for an extra £20 as it's got a thermowell

Edit: Just noticed Tartan got there before me

Ohhh! The more expensive one has LCD n stuff n stuff!!!
Just parted with the money and got extra tubing lol
Thank you so much for all your help!
Once again I really apreciate it.
Shiny shiny Brian

You won't regret it...nice bit of kit....should give you fast and consistent fermentations then drain from the racking arm/valve into a bottling bucket with priming sugar (or keg)..no need for syphoning off the yeast etc. You should get it by Xmas too :)

The longest day in history!!!
Waiting on shiny shiny to arrive...
Then unpacked it and our lass is going give a helping hand lol (ohhh err! With the unpacking and putting the valve thingy on!!!
This now means it has to tested....
Brew day tomorrow!!! Left overs!!!

Mmmmmmmmmmm!!
Right am I being a balloon knot or not?
With our lass got both items secured with rubber washer with side and the SS nut tightened up...
Even with hand tightened the rubbers on the both nut area went Pete tong if you see the pics...
We've tried a few times and the same went like this...
Filled it to see if any water can escape....no!!

For all it looks **** the washers are actually serving the purpose for now!!
Has anybody had this? And the obvious remedy...(you know how I struggle with simple tasks due my small brain)
Thinking getting the rubber washer bedded in etc might be the thing but my memory has gone...
Any help once again I'll love to hear it!!!
1.2l approx of ullage..
