I made one of these for the first time years ago and it turned out very well if my memory serves me correct.
I did have a moment of panic though when adding the dry kit to the water, as it all stuck together in big lumps and took a few minutes of frantic stirring to separate it. So my 'obvious' tip would be apply it to the water slowly while stirring, other than that it was a good kit to make.
