Batch priming without a second FV?

Hi - I've got a 25L FV, and I really like the idea of batch priming. Problem is, buying another 25L FV seems a bit overkill.

Soooo..... Is there another way of batch priming without having to buy another big FV?

I've got one identical to this: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3120/3220674170_c515f70df0_m.jpg

If I buy a second bucket for batch priming, do I need a tap on it? Do I need an airlock? (At the mo', my FV has a tap and no airlock.)

I think an airlock for the proper FV would be good. From there I siphon into the batch priming bucket. From there... tap optional?

Cheers, Richard

From a personal point of view I would consider the following.

Use your current FV for batch priming and bottling. The tap looks too low to be of when using as a primary FV but should be ideal for a bottling bucket with the addition of a Little Bottler.

Then get a new FV. I can recommend the following, assuming the link works, good quality and the tap is high enough so you can use it for draining beer off for gravity checks. The 30 litre one is much more compact than in the picture.
I see this as an essential investment rather than overkill. Good luck

Cheers for your reply.

Do you have any idea if the point about tap height holds true for cider as well? (I don't know if beer has the same amount of unwanted sediment as cider.)

If the one you linked to could be stored *inside* the FV I currently have, I think I would be sold on the benefits of a 2nd FV.

Thanks, Richard

PS - I like flat cider, but that's when it's made by someone who knows what they're doing. I've made one batch before and that needed the enhancement from some bubbles!
