I ask because I steeped up 500g of light crystal and added the malty juice goodness but could I have dumped the the whole lot into the FV?

I like to make use of everything I brew with and hate throwing away hops so they get dumped in after the boil and wondered if I could do the same with crystal.

I am sure its not a good idea but I am not sure why. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along shortly.

No. Unless you boil it it's going to infect your beer. With lactobacillus I'm sure.

And I wouldn't add spent hops from the boiler to the FV either.

Have to say I've never had issues with adding boiled hops but I'll deffo not add any grain to the FV without boiling.
