I've just moved my first go at Woodfordes Nog into a pressure barrel after just short of 3 weeks in the bucket. Took a hydrometer reading, as you do, and it's come out at around 996!. I'm not saying I'm unhappy with this and the taste, green as it is, is very pleasant but with no added anything, made to the letter of the instructions, with the legendarily iffy yeast as supplied, is it actually feasible that it's brewed out to 6% or do I need a new hydrometer? :?

Trust me to overlook the obvious. Somehow the paper insert with the scale printed on it has slipped down the inside of the stem and is sticking out into the bulb by about a cm. So I can add about 15 to any reading, which puts the Nog pretty much on target. Cheers MyQul:thumb:
