Hey guys, I did this recipe yesterday as my next step up from just doing the kit alone. The kit I used for my base was a geordie scottish expert, I picked it mainly for the colour and the result isnt overly flavorful so should not distract from my target taste of something similar to Punk IPA!
Mash 200g Maris Otter @ 66 degrees for 30 mins in 1ltr water
Dissolve Kit and 1kg of BKE in 2 liters of boiling water in fermentation bucket, when dissolved Top up to 10 liters with cold water.
Add grain wort and 2 liters from fermentation bucket into a pan and bring to the boil.
Start timer for 30 minutea ans bring to boil, hop additions:
50.00 g Chinook - Boil 12 min
16.00 g Ahtanum - Boil 5 min
16.00 g Nelson Sauvin - Boil 5 min
16.00 g Simcoe - Boil 5.0 min
16.00 g Ahtanum â Steep 0 min for 30 min
16.00 g Nelson Sauvin â Steep 0 min for 30 min
16.00 g Simcoe - Steep 0 min for 30 min
16.00 g Ahtanum - Dry Hop 3-5 days
16.00 g Nelson Sauvin - Dry Hop 3-5 days
16.00 g Simcoe - Dry Hop 3-5 days
Smelling the wort its got a great Punk IPA hope smell! Its been 12 hrs and its kicked off nicely in the fermenter!
Anyone else tried a similar method? Cheers
