Following on from my hard lemonade I've tried a hard Orange version

Here goes

12 large oranges
1kg of sugar
Cup of black tea
Glacé cherries
Yeast nutrient
Yeast

Cut, squeezed, juiced the oranges and simmered for 20mins.
Added sugar to 1 pint of water, with glacé cherries and simmered and let cool.
Strained the oranges & juice and let cool
When all liquid is cool add to a demijohn
Add 1 ltr of orange juice (done this for body)
Add cup of black tea
Top up to fill level in dj
Add yeast nutrient
Add yeast

It went ballistic after a few days.
It fermented from 1080 to under 1000 in just over a week.

I let it sit for 3weeks then racked it off to a clean dj to clear a bit. I think I'm wasting my time here as it's as orange as an essex tan.

I'll bottle it over the next week or so then store it for a bit, so it can age properly and mature in taste to its full capacity.

Who am I kiddin, I'm drinkin that sucker this weekend

It's ok really, I need my drinks to be colder than ice to enjoy them. When it's cold it's a lot better.

Small amount of aftertaste, but not as bad as first thought.

I'm going to try some thing with bananas next.
