What does my hydrometer say?

Hi,

I need help to confirm that I'm reading the SG correctly.

Here is a picture of my hydrometer floating in a glass tube:

It looks like .1049 to - what do you think?

Possibly 1050. Without the foam!

I'd have said 1.049 but one point makes little difference anyway so I wouldn't worry either way.

Looks like 1.050 to me reading the bottom of the bubble.

I'd read that as 1.049, for what it's worth. In that situation I take a few readings wiping the hydrometer each time to get rid of the foam. Eventually it becomes easier to read. Assuming it gets down to 1.010, the extra point would mean a difference of 0.13% ABV.
