Done a A.P.A. last saturday using a wyeast slap pack and there's still a inch of krausen on top . the thing is , it's got this whitish powdery coating on top. not seen this before. should i be overly concerned?checked f.g. and down to 1.010 so think it's done. wondering if i should skim the top off it and still leave another week or just leave be, maybe drop the temp. did an english ale the week before using similar yeast and that had dropped completely after 4 days. cheers. dave.

thanks. yep, i done that before when it was just a mushy pond like krausen on top.this looks slightly mouldy. as you say , just syphon underneath it. cheers
