With the warmer weather in recent days the temperature in the shed was getting a bit on the high side so I had a look on ebay and managed to pick up a larder fridge for £40 which I have now rigged up as a fermentation fridge. Despite my shoddy woodwork and and wiring skills it seems to be working! The brew in the fridge was being heated with a fishtank heater initially which as you can see is still in the FV. This is really not too hard to do and I followed information on these 2 links without any issue.

The only difference with mine was using extension sockets on longer lengths of cable so the plugs had a bit more range.

The control unit isnt actually boxed yet as my case didnt arrive in time but it should be ok in its prototype form for now (hopefully!):electric:

Well 24 hours in and the brew is holding a rock steady temp of 20 degrees and the shed hasn't burnt down! I'm declaring this one a success...

I built mine last week and was rather nervous when i plugged in, it was also a nerve racking day, thinking, 'I hope the house doesn't burn down'. I think the hardest thing was actually building the shelf!

But, i did it all by myself!

Nice one! I was pretty proud of my efforts too and likewise found the shelf the hardest part, ended up cobbling it together from some old decking rails and a bit of laminate, it's not gonna win any awards for appearance but it seems to be holding up ok!
