So I was browsing a Kiwi forum and came across a post about someone upgrading their Grainfather's STC, essentially giving it a new, smarter, brain.
Basically for very little cash (seems to be easily under 50GBP) you can have almost the same functionality as a Braumeister (programming steps, hop additions, etc) and with minimal effort (the modifications are easy to do and reverse). Now reading that for me was a game changer as I am very pro-Braumeister mainly because of this reason and now I'm contemplating my options even more... (Also planning on moving to NZ end of the year).
