Ive just started drinking a Greg hughes Brown Ale, it tastes pretty good, although i keep feeling like it needs a bit more fruitiness to it perhaps, i think it uses admiral and fuggles if i remember rightly? Anyone else made this or played around with it?

Northern or Southern? I think he has two in the book. I've done the Northern and it was alright but I stuffed it up when I brewed it and only done a 45 minute boil.

It was the northern off the top of my head, its come out ok nice and malty i just feel it might benefit from some more fruitiness in there to complement the malt, i read somewhere its can an americanised brown ale?

Wot H-Rob says. The fuller strain/WLP002 would be a good one. Just culture it up from a bottle of Fuller 1845 if you dont want to buy WLP002 (or its WYeast equivalent)

Ok thanks, i think the recipe uses pale malt, crystal and Choc malt, with admiral and challenger, do you think it could work if i added some Cascade in there as well

That would 'Americanify' it of course. Dads_Ale sent me an awesome Americanified brown ale made with apollo hops, for one of his bottle swaps. So yes.

Would i replace the challenger with cascade and perhaps dry hop with Cascade as well?
