So tonight I decided to get two kits going.

Festival - Spiced Winter Ale

and

Brewferm - Christmas Dark Belgium

I got distracted and somehow pitched the Brewferm yeast in the Festival wort. I'm not even sure what yeasts are in these kits, the festival is labelled "Belgian Yeast" and is about twice the size of the Brewferm.

Brewferm is only a 7L batch and the Festival is 18L.

What to do? Pitch the Festival in the Brewferm? Pitch half the Festival into each?

Thanks

Danny

Personally I would be tempted to do half the yeast into each.

It is more important to ensure you have enough cells to start fermentation in the big batch.

It will likely be OK, just may taste a little different than intended. But who is to say it would not taste as good or better? :)

The only thing would be that the Belgian is likely a more alcohol tolerant strain (I would guess that this is a stronger beer). But without knowing what yeast is in each kit, there is not much else to do unless you want to get more yeast from somewhere...

The Belgian may just end up being a higher final gravity than intended, so possibly a little sweeter and lower alcohol.
