hey guys,
i just bottled wilko rose wine in 750ml glass bottles and sealed with plastic corked stoppers.
my question is: how long will the wine keep with these sort of stoppers?
i'm hoping to store the wine for 8 months atleast. :-?

thanks in advance :thumb:

I have never used plastic corks but i would be a bit worried how a cheap wine will taste after 8 months in a bottle, could i ask why you made a kit so long before intending drinking it?

ive only just bottled it today. my plan was to make use of the warm summer temps to make wine now, ready for winter drinking.

If the stopper has a good seal then you will be fine for the 8 months. Careful when twisting off, as the cap tends to break easily.

I have used plastic stoppers to lay-down 12% to 13% ABV red wine (bought in bulk in France @ €1 per litre) in my garage for up to six years and never had one of them fail or contaminate the wine.

The real problem arises when you mislay the Stopper Remover.

I advise buying two; and hide your own well away from the kitchen drawer! :thumb:

Where Do I find these?

Where Do I find these?

I got mine from a Le Clerc Supermarket in France. They are still on sale there for pennies but I can't find them here in the UK.

However, I did find these ...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HVWR9N6/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

... and they don't even need a special tool to extract them for re-use.

If you want to make a sparkling wine they have this version ...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LEQ93TI/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

Hope this helps.
