I've unearthed a small cider press that I want to use as a demonstration at the museum where I volunteer.

The base tray is made from marine ply by the looks of it & Having tested it with a jug of water it's dripping all round the base.

So has anyone got any clever ideas on what I could use as a sealant?

the only thing i am comfortable touching the apples or the juice is food safe grease. I use this to lubricate my crusher. Could you not set it up in a way that any substantial leaking juice is captured in a clean vessel ? based on your pic above as long as the easiest route for the juice is down the chute, then any losses should be fairly minimal.

Wonder if you plug the drain and fill it with water and leave it over night to see if it swells up sealing the leaks...like those owd wooden boats but backwards!
