Hi all...so, I have litres and litres of homemade elderflower cordial.

I am looking for a wine recipe?

Obviously the cordial...but do I need to:

Add tannin
Add white grape juice
Anything else? (Yeast, obviously :laugh8:)

I'm looking to make 5l batches to start with...

Thank you!

Hi, so...I made my cordial wine roughly based on the pointers above...

Elderflower cordial (home made)
Rose petal cordial (home made)
Strong tea
Nutrient
Super wine yeast.

Start sg 1090

Yeast pitched just dry, via a teaspoon like I normally do...

3 days in and no sign whatsoever of any fermentation...

Any thoughts?

I was going to make a yeast starter and then add that tomorrow. Just wondered where I may have gone wrong.

The cordials are simply elderflower/rose and sugar and lemon juice and water....

I use dry yeast all the time and have never had a problem are you using the airlock as a sign nothing is happening?

Did you add any preservative to your homemade cordials?

Is this a DJ of wine or an FV?

The cordials were pasteurised, but that's all.

I did add a CT to the mix 24hrs before adding the yeast, as I wanted to ensure all was 'clean' before adding the yeast.

I do similar to my fresh fruit wines...adding a CT to the mixture before adding the yeast a day later without issue...

I'm using a bucket/fv...

are you using the airlock as a sign nothing is happening?

Is your FV airtight as a lot are not and members often report not seeing bubbles in the airlock at any time during fermentation?
