30th Jan i spent my evening making a Woodfordes Wherry kit. 24 hours later no airlock activity. 48 hours no change 72 hours no change. I thought yeast was out of date as kit was bought over 14 months back. So i left it nothing to lose by waiting. Whilst browsing YouTube n google i found a video from BrewBitz.
Basically I like many have a bad habit. You mix your kit give it a good stir then give spoon/paddle a vigorous tap on the rim of your bucket. The top rim is quite thin so you create small indentations, which allows C02 to leak out thus no airlock activity.
I’ve never heard of this before but 10 days later I’m here
HOWEVER MUCH YOUR SURE THAT ITS A FAILURE, ALWAYS ALWAYS LET IT BREW OUT. YOU’VE NOTHING TO LOSE

That’s a great bit of info. I never considered that the tapping of the paddle off the rim could cause a leak. Enjoy your brew.
