I didn't know Shell Energy was a thing until @Leon103 mentioned he is a customer in a recent thread, it looks like they may be about to quit -

Up to 2,000 UK jobs are at risk at Shell Energy after it announced it was considering quitting the energy sector.

The firm said it was conducting a "strategic review" to its operations in the UK, Netherlands and Germany amid "tough market conditions".
The Coventry-based company provides energy to 1.4 million homes in the UK and broadband to around 500,000 people.
A spokesperson said: "No decisions have yet been taken on the way forward" and added the review could take months.
The company said it wanted to "maximise value" and "address performance in tough market conditions" but did not confirm what this could mean for jobs.
One of the options on the table is to pull out of the home energy market altogether.
Energy firms have been restricted by the Ofgem cap, which will be changing in April, on how much suppliers can charge for the energy they sell.
The cap means firms are obliged to set prices below what it costs them to buy wholesale gas and electricity.
In May 2022 it was reported that 30 energy companies stopped trading in the UK since August 2021.
Shell said it remained committed to its business model of producing, buying, trading, transporting and selling energy around the world.
"Our priority remains to ensure our customers in those countries continue to receive a reliable and affordable energy supply, and to provide support for customers who are struggling with the cost of energy and wider cost-of-living pressures," the firm added.

I'm a customer of energy and broadband, and would be happy if they went bust

The router for the broadband is not good. Customer service is nonexistent. You have to use an online form and hope they get back to you.

I'm three months into an 18 month contract and would like to move to Community Fibre for a similar price for 1gbps, which comes available in 3 months.

Energy is energy. It doesn't matter who supplies it and they are all the same price at the minute.

they kept trying to get me to sign up to their broadband only, lets be honest virgin media and bt openreach are the only 2 companies with actual infrastructure. everything else is supplied off those 2. so it just becomes a commodity like gas or electric companies trying to make an extra fast buck.

Yeah, I was on Vodafone before, so a like for like in theory. But just gone back to my Vodafone router because Shell supplied the cheapest of the cheap which wifi keeps dropping out. No Virgin here.
Community fibre will be great when it arrives, OH had it in her previous flat. but the build is already a year overdue.

I had the same issue. 10 meg connection, just renewed my contract then fibre got pulled in down the street.

InternetTY credited my account with the full cost of getting me out of the contract.

Now have a gig connection.

Doesn't sound genuine, unhappy with the thr ofgem cap. Will keep an eye though, don't want my shares to take a knock.
