I saw these mentioned by @Hoppy2bmerry on HBT and thought they were interesting. The originals are not cheap, but the principle could be adapted for DIY use?

From what I can tell they consist of a foam pad on the bottom to cushion, then a layer of foam cut out to accept the bottom of the bottle, then another layer of foam with smaller holes cut out to go over the necks, then another layer of foam to cushion the top.

It's perhaps an excessive amount of packaging for one-off use like sending to competitions, but could be useful when they can be reused as in eg bottle swaps?

In his "boxing" video @chopps said he was using Airsacs if I heard him right, where you put each bottle into a pouch which is surrounded by cells inflated by a bike pump/compressor.
I think these are what he's using, about £15 for 50, or three-bottle bags £14.25 for 25 :

Airpack do three-bottle bags for £30 for 50 :

Probably best suited to when you're only sending a few like to a competition, at least it cuts down on the plastic waste for the organisers.

Wouldn’t some reused bubble wrap and an old Amazon box do the same job?

Seems excessive unless you get extra points for pretty packaging.

Yep, this is what I do. I've never paid for any packaging (other than tape) for sending beers out for swaps or competitions. I just re-use whatever I've received through the post.

Never had a breakage so I really can't see the need to spend money on an expensive solution, unless of course you don't have any packaging you can re-use.
