Has anyone tried Umm Bongo as a base for a fruity cider?

I love the taste of it, and according to the ingredients:

Ingredients

Orange Juice from Concentrate (50%), Pineapple Juice from Concentrate (45%), Banana Puree (5%)

Dietary Information

Free From Artificial Colours
Free From Artificial Sweeteners
Free From Artificial Flavours

It looks like it should ferment quite well. It's not cheap ~£10 for 5 Litres of it, but I think I'm going to give it a shot.

All good (and bad) experiments have to start somewhere :thumb:

Only rule is, come back and report so others can learn from your successes (and mistakes  )

30 years ago I finally managed to get this tune out of my head...

Way down deep in the middle of the Congo,
A hippo took an apricot, a guava and a mango.
He stuck it with the others, and he danced a dainty tango.
The rhino said, "I know, we'll call it Um Bongo"
Um Bongo, Um Bongo, They drink it in the Congo.
The python picked the passion fruit, the marmoset the mandarin.
The parrot painted packets, that the whole caboodle landed in.
So when it comes to sun and fun and goodness in the jungle,
They all prefer the sunny funny one they call Um Bongo!

Now it's back

Have the ingredients changed or is it a different Um Bongo from the original?

The one I remember was much more tropical flavoured, like what the song says :D

Just checked. The original um bongo is different...

Water , Fruit Juices from Concentrate (19%) (Apple, Lemon, Orange, Pineapple, Passion Fruit, Mandarin) , Sugar , Glucose-Fructose Syrup , Fruit Purees (1%) (Apricot, Guava, Mango) , Vitamin C , Flavouring , Citric Acid .

According to wikipedia the above was changed a few years back then changed back to the "original" when people complained. I think the one you are reading is the one that the "original" was changed to.

That would be a good thing to try out. But it would be a bit on the expensive side me thinks.
