I have been wanting to try this one for a while, but I have to say I am rather dissapointed. It's quite bitter but in a green hop almost astringent way. The aroma is just ok and I get a bit of diesel. Good thing I only dropped $12 for a 4 pack. I have to say I can brew a much better beer than this.

Moving on to another classic brown ale, was one of my favorites many years back and still is! I need to get a recipe for this and it's only 4.5% with plenty of flavour.

tonight i'm enjoying some rakı(45 percent alcohol) with some aubergine salad (rakı is a turkish drink, similar but more intense than greece's ouzo) which is crafted by a friend's dad in çanakkale province(aka dardanelles or galippoli).

i was planning to drink some whiskey but i saw a rakı commercial today(which i share below) and craved for it. so, cheers every one, greetings to the u.k.

Starting tonight with a guest ale from my old buddy @Hopsteep This is his “Groundswell” English Porter at 5.6%

The presentation is really nice and to my knowledge Hopsteep is still the only member canning his ales.👏

The can cracked with a nice crisp release of gas and poured nicely, easily forming a tan coloured head. The dark chestnut brown beer has a slight haze to it but I see a little yeast in the bottom of my glass so this is probably down to my pour.

The aroma is malt, a little sweet caramel, chocolate, and a familiar fruitiness from the Fuggles hops. There’s almost a brown malt quality to the aroma although I don’t think there’s any brown malt in this ale.

I can’t wait any longer, I’m going in. Malt is prominent, followed by dark fruit and then chocolate, the bitterness builds and then fades but not entirely. There’s just a hint hint of a floral quality to the roasty slightly bitter finish. It’s certainly very moreish - and that’s why my glass is now empty😢

Impressive!!
I'm quaffing a well conditioned Hazelwood Brewery bitter...which I deserve after working nights and I should actually receive a medal.
I'm thinking of getting a brew on this week again and the bitter is on the likely list...as well as a Guinness clone, another Tribute...the list goes on..

You need more kegs and fermenters!
 
You are correct! I think I'll be fermenting this week's brew on the kitchen worktop as my brew fridge is fettling my lager and the heat pad has the Summer Breeze monster sitting on it...
My brew shed is a bit small really but I could fit some more PBS in,bottling is a chore! I'm reluctant to chuck a huge amount of money at it all given the current climate though..
 
First try of my Raw English pale ale. Obviously needs more time to condition. It's not even two weeks in the bottles. It's a bit strange, taste's like a wheat beer. Not to sure about this beer 🧐

Glad you enjoyed it! By tarting up my beers and canning them it gives the illusion that I know what I’m doing...

Mr @Markk kindly sent me a couple of beers to try a couple of weeks ago. This one is a Summit Pale ale that @strange-steve reviewed the other day. I think Steve’s review is spot on actually. On the nose there’s a piney, subtle resinous hop aroma that comes through in the flavour. I don’t think I’ve ever tried Summit hops, a really interesting and enjoyable pale ale that lasted all of 5 minutes! 🍺
 
Next up for me is @Pennine Belgian blonde. This is a new style for me. Never had or brewed one before.
Appearance: it pours a deep copper colour. Carbonation is medium with nice white soft head. Really good clarity as usual.
Aroma: sweet malt, very light spice. Everything well restraint compared to other Belgian styles I have tried.
Flavour: smooth with a lovely mouth feel, light spice. Everything well balanced. Some sweetness from the malt and a good firm level of bitterness.
Over all a very enjoyable beer. Thank you again for sending 👍

,while i am waiting for my Duncleweizen to condition ,i treated myself to a couple bottles of Erdinger ,Weizenbock , wow ,this is the first time i have tried one of these and this is probably the best beer i have tasted , fruity, malty ,very smooth , and it was 7.3 percent , stunning . I know what i will be brewing at some stage :)
 
Over the weekend i tried my two week bottled Tom Claxton Best Bitter. I was not expecting much as when i bottled it was like old radiator water. However, when i tried it after just two weeks it was a fantastic point. Nice,and clear and a great taste, i cannot wait to taste more down the line. May be the best drink that i have done so far.
 
Brown ale again tonight, this isn't going to get any clearer, I was talking to a German brewer today about it he recommends tilting the crate at an angle clears the beer faster. Got nothing to lose.
