I found that if you boil a kettle of water and use a funnel, fill the bottles with boiling hot water and leave for 5 minutes. The glue melts and most labels peel off easily in one go. I then use a metal scouring pad in a sink of soapy water to remove any remaining glue from the bottles. If the glue is very strong I use a label remover and a little paint brush to brush the stuff. 5 minutes later the bottles are perfect.

pour 95% into a hug, 4% into your glass. Drink conteents of glass, rinse glass, fill glass from jug, drink glass, fetch another bottle, go to step 1............

For plastic labels - low oven for a while, peel off (easily) and then clean off residue with white spirit taking care not to get any inside the bottle before washing.
Or just find a beer you like with a paper label and soak!

Well I have gone through a fair few now, but sadly, I am throwing away between a 1/3 and a 1/2 a bottle each time....

As I tip the bottle towards the jug the white stuff at the bottom of the bottle quickly makes it way from the bottom to the top of the beer flow level and is all too quickly the stuff that is coming out of the bottle, with the good clear beer being drawn to the bottom where it too, then mixes with the crud.
Thought I would get better the more I have poured, but if anything, the longer the bottles are on the shelf, the worse it seems to become..
So sad as I love the beer, yet soo much is going down the sink.... amateur trials and tribulations eh?

What is the usual alternative to bottling? And how long will the beer stay good kept like that?

Thanks all.

Putting it into some sort of keg or barrel so you can serve it draft.

I always pour from bottle into a large jug, and fill up my glasses from that. I find that normal 'bottle-shaped' bottles with a conventional neck are best, and the type with the long conical neck, if you know what I mean, are not so satisfactory. I find if I watch the surface of the beer as I am pouring it into the jug, I can see the whitish sediment floating on the top of the beer, and can stop pouring as it approaches the mouth of the bottle. But I guess a lot depends on the type of yeast used and your brewing methods. I generally find I only leave half an inch or so un the bottle.

I just glug it all in the glass.
The yeast helps my bowels now I'm on permanent night shift 👍😁
