My bbq needs to be replaced also. I'm thinking to upgrading to one of these.

Though maybe with a smaller horizontal box.

My absolute favorite though would be an African braai!

It’s not as quick though is it? My gas bbq gets up to 250C in five minutes with all burners on and the lid down.
Your oven in the house will do the same job if your stuck ☺️
You can also buy a fake fire as well, it produces heat just like a real fire. Did you ever see the Volkswagen add
 
We've had a webber for 10 years after replacing 2 previous cheapo bbq's that lasted a year or 2 each. The webber still has a good few years left on it. I highly recommend the brand. you pay more but it lasts longer. 10 yr guarantee on it and only a little touch of rust on the lid.
 
Even though my weekly required BBQ needs to be gas as I need the burner I'm thinking I should also get the Weber kettle for those days when I have the time to set fire to things...
Combine a charcoal bbq with a dutch oven and you're in business is you're making curry......over an open firepit also works a treat!

eye opening thread.
i've had one BBQ in my 40-something years.
it was in NZ and a gas example was used.
i was very disappointed.
 
I think I might get a Weber kettle too...which one??
57” Original or Mastertouch. The ash hopper on the master touch is great size wise and the air flow is supposed to be more controllable. Not sure about that particular claim but.
The bigger bowl is great for two zone direct, and indirect cooking, but the downside is the grill doesn’t fit in my sink.

I like a BBQ but?? Lol.
57cm master touch. Is the one, it's a bit deeper, the grill has a removable centre that takes attachments.
If you look around you can often find a deal, normally add-ons rather than a price reduction.
You can do most things with one, they are really designed for indirect cooking, but there's lots of tips and tricks.
Look up the snake method for 12 hour+ cooking on YouTube.
 
I have a Cobb bbq and love it. Uses compressed coconut and lasts for about 3 hours. I can cook on it after about 2 minutes. Done a normal bbq and smoked meat joints on it such a versatile bit of kit
 
I got a bargain fornetto on flea bay and love it, had lots of fantastic ribs and briskets from it
 
Another vote for the large Weber kettle- Ive had mine over a decade, its lived outside since and is in perfect nick, albeit the cover is just starting to show some UV stiffness. Couple of years ago I also turned to the dark side and invested in a Weber Genesis E-410 gas unit. Absolutely rock solid (building one by yourself is fun...!) great for pizzas and leave and forget low and slow with a smoke box and the bluetooth monitor and app. Cleaning is a bit of a pig for the gas though.

Expensive kit but worth every penny IMO and makes great food. Whereas my brother has gone the cheap option but has to replace every few years so has probably spent the same and has had the hassle of assembly each time.
 
You can't beat a Kamado style BBQ/grill/smoker. They are obviously ridiculously expensive - but worth every penny.

I’ve got a Weber Genesis that I bought in Canada. I had to change the regulator and fiddle with the jets when I brought it back to the UK, but this will be it’s tenth summer and still going strong.
