I used @Get_Er_Brewed for the first time about a month ago. I was short of some bottles which I'd normally get from B2B but they were out of stock. GEB were a bit more expensive but communication and delivery were good.

ok good news about @Get_Er_Brewed - mind you it does mean I'll have to do a spreadsheet for each order again to get the best deal....

Just a comparison..
Amarillo pellets 100g
MM £6.50 + del.
GEB £5.95 + del.
CML £5.50 free del.
Good if you just want hop pellets, but I get grain and hops with most of my orders. I still use CML when I am stuck for yeast and hops, always been very prompt, good products and friendly personal service.

Ordered from @Get_Er_Brewed on Thursday night, ready for a planned brew day next Saturday. Thought I’d better order early as I was expecting a slight delay.
Was delivered this morning! Can’t argue with that 👍
Never had anything but excellent service from them tbh.

I keep getting charged double delivery charge once I go over 27kg. Max weight is 29 plus 1 kg for the box. Getting fed up with this. Last order was on the 22nd and I am still waiting on the refund for the second postage charge.
Has anyone else had this problem.

I’ve placed a few orders with them now and have noticed the delivery costs go up when I get to a few KGs under 30. I adjust my order accordingly and have been fortunate enough to not be hit with any extra costs.

DPD delivery up to 30kg for 5.95. It's a bit frustrating especially when they are 40 mins up the road from me

Speaking as an owner of an e-commerce business, trust me when I say they will be making a loss with that delivery fee.

We use parcelforce for sending beers and wines and we pay £7 plus vat for each consignment (next day delivery) for up to 30kg and then there’s the packaging to factor in.

Geterbrewed are usually pretty good in my experience- I always get a phone call from them if there’s an extra charge for delivery etc.

It is frustrating though when as you say you’re under their weight limit for the extra fee 🍺

I thought you disappeared 😂😂
It must be a fault in the system. Once I hit 27kg the second delivery charge gets added.

You have me lost. I pay the delivery charge, the problem is they charge me twice. When I am under the weight limit
Ahh I see, that was in an earlier post. Yes I have heard they do this, never experienced myself though as I don't think my weight has ever been near enough.

Haha still here! 🍺 might actually find time to get a beer on the go this Saturday!

If they are anything like DHL you can’t forget the surcharges, packge going to a remote area (Glasgow not sure when it became remote) that will be an extra £7.50, oversized package (according to DHL) well that will be another £60, emergency situation surcharge an extra few pounds on every shipment.

As a rule most e commerce companies are likely charging below cost for delivery (not that I can blame anyone for being annoyed about being charged extra fees in error) I doubt any home brew company is profiting from delivery charges. One of the issues is that Amazon who have huge bargaining power due to their scale have left many believing that delivery should be free or very cheap at best.

I had this problem with an order that was way below the threshold, something like 3-4kg below but it still added the extra charge. I phoned them and they advised me to complete the order and to add a note (there is a free text box for this) pointing out the weight issue and asking for a refund of the additional delivery charge. They processed the refund a day or two after I received the delivery without me having to phone to chase it. So I was impressed with the response, but it would be much better for them to sort out the root cause in their order system.

Hi guys

Just another point to throw into the hat, it's not always about the physical weights on a parcel either... a plastic 60ltr fermenting barrel weighs nothing but it's a big old thing and couriers use something called "volumetric weight"... if I remember right it's the LxWxD/5000 and it produces a different weight which can sometimes skew a shipping charge for the sender.

We have a maximum of 30kg per parcel for our pricing but even then we're encourage to try and keep it at around 5kg per parcel... so we often subside deliveries, especially multi box consignments as we only ever charge one delivery fee yet we get charged per box like GEB. It's a minefield, you're often damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Regards Amazon... awesome choice for the consumer, amazing service levels until they're struggling themselves and the metrics are relaxed, not always the best value for the consumer though. I could go on about marketplaces but they're here to stay and we all use them for the convenience they bring :) Bizarely though despite the amount of parcels Amazon send out, if you yourself are a prime warehouse you have to use Amazon shipping rates for certain couriers which we get charged more for than we would shipping on our own courier accounts with the same couriers...bonkers :) That cost is then built into the sell price on a marketplace... so really there is no free shipping, anywhere... it's always built into the price you pay regardless of where you shop.

Have a great long weekend everyone.

Yes I agree, with a Caveat. The warranty didn't mean much in this case:

"However, your order was sold by a third party seller, Gooasis. This item was labelled ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’. Items labelled ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’ are sent to you directly from an Amazon.co.uk Fulfilment Centre but because the Seller's inventory is constantly changing we can't replace any items sold by them that are Fulfilled by Amazon. "

Plot gets even more bizarre because those warehouses are managed by Amazon themselves, not a 3rd party Amazon warehouse like our own.

Maybe because it isn't Amazon's own stock they can't authorise a return or replacement and the seller themselves have to do that, after which Amazon will take care of the rest.

To be fair to them they did refund me as a "one off" because I am a "valued" customer (Prime). That was after a long discussion with customer services, which still didn't really make any sense to me. The problem is in the case they explain it means you have to be careful who you are actually buying from through Amazon. So for a book or something that would be obviously faulty on delivery they will refund if returned within 30 days, but if something breaks down you cannot be sure they will honour the warranty and good luck chasing "Gooasis" no doubt.
