Been a bit slack with posting up my brew day activity etc since I became more active on the forum. So here’s a couple of posts on Ag brew kits from Get Er Brewed which have served me pretty well. As a new AG brewer I leaned towards these kits as it takes away a bit of stress regarding recipe creation enabling you to concentrate on your methods/processes whilst getting to know your equipment...
Maybe others can recommend or give feedback on these type of kits. As I’ve found them to be pretty good thus far.
So far I have brewed two of the Crisp kits from GEB , an oatmeal stout and English Ipa. Currently I have a clone kit from Mm in the FV of Elusives Spellbinder Coffee Porter .. Cheers

Crisp - Oatmeal Stout kit from GEB

Can’t say enough good things about this kit. My first attempt at a stout. Numbers were a bit wayward. But whatever I did it worked. Produced a really good beer which I thoroughly enjoyed over Christmas.
Ended up at 5% , but packed loads of roasty flavours and was smooth as anything. So all in all was well pleased.
Finished up with a full corny and a couple of 500ml bottles,

Crisp-English IPA kit from GEB

Brewed this on 29/12/20.
Finished up at 6% and with 18 litres in the corny. Have carbed to 2.2 vol. Just had my first taste after 16 days in the keg. Initial thoughts are positive. I wouldn’t say it’s singing with hop flavour but they’re there. Also has a pleasant malty breadiness and accompanied my chicken balti fantastically. Think it will only improve over next few weeks. So all in all good results again with a recipe kit.
Cheers

I'll say one thing for the Beoir yeast. It's very quick to get going. I pitched it about 7am and it was bubbling away by lunchtime and it's really going for it now.

Yes the Dennis Kings Galaxy Delight from MM is certainly up there in IMO as one of the best, only brewed it once so far, ordered another one recently and will be my next brew

I've seen a lot of praise for Galaxy Delight but never made it, never made anything with an IBU that high (61) just checking it's not a mistake?

It can be very bitter if drank young. Dennis King has always stated it needs at least a month maturing to mellow and it really does change for the better. Still has a good bitterness but not extreme like some American IPA's I've tried.

GEB's Crisp English IPA Kit. Brewed 9th March and kegged on the 14th. OG 1.044 - FG 1.004 giving a final ABV of 5.7%.

Colour; light gold, reasonable clarity which should improve with a bit more time in keg. Also, this was the first pour.
Nose; an inviting mild to medium level of British hops predominate,
Taste; malt flavours come first, bready cracker flavours predominate then the hops come in and are well balanced with the malt. The mouthfeel, body and bitterness are all low to medium and the finish is dry making this a very quaffable summer ale.

If you're looking for a bold IPA with strong hops flavours and a good level of bitterness, then this isn't the kit for you. I was looking for a lighter summer ale for tap 3 on the kegerator and it will fit that bill perfectly. The lower than expected FG has resulted in a more attenuated beer that is incredibly drinkable which has helped a lot on that front. Just have to watch out for the extra 1% ABV that it has delivered.

I would brew again, but would take the Sulphate:Chloride ratio up a bit more to accentuate the hop flavours further.

EDIT-Just noticed @gibbo_sd brewed this earlier and had a very similar experience!

So brewed this recipe kit from MM at the tail end of Jan.
The keg is about to kick so thought I’d share a mini review.
Managed to produce a really clean tasting beer with loads of great Porter flavours and the hint of coffee was bang on. On a comparison test with the original the flavours were very close , the elusive version having a slightly softer mouth feel.
But thoroughly enjoyed the beer. Would brew again but think I’d bottle half of the batch to save for a later date , as I only have two kegs and that particular style as much as I like it , is not massively sessionable. Cheers

Got a few kits in from MM, Have an American IPA which is kegged (first time using a corny!) and currently conditioning. Also have the House Pale Ale and the Vic Secret Delight ready to go. Have to say the packaging and service is excellent. Just need the finished product now.

Will get the reviews up of each as they're done and drunk athumb..

Thinking of doing this one for my next brew and splitting it, 9l into my 1/2 corny and the rest bottled. How soon was it drinkable after kegging? We’re having a party in mid July so would be good to have it on tap by then. Cheers!

Hi there , I tend to carb all my kegged beers using the set and forget method. Will have a cheeky taste after a week , but leaving for a second week is worth it in my opinion ...Think I carbonated that Porter at 2.1 vol ..

Got a few kits from MM - Two hearted clone which is still to brew, Peroni clone which is conditioning, but tastes promising, and Oberon US wheat beer which after 4 weeks in the keg is excellent. Not quite as wheaty as I expected but that may be down to my novice Brewzilla skills. The recipe for A Beermosa on the Bells Brewery US website works fantastic with this beer - especially with my draft sparkling Chardonnay.

Other Ag kits which I have recently brewzilla'd are listed below

Dark Rock Kolsch - A really, really good lager - I'm an occasional lager drinker but this really was lovely
Brewuk Summer Lightning - A nice beer but not that close to the original - Probably down to my brewzilla skills
Brewuk Lighten Up Helles - Disappointing but maybe I was expecting more after DR Kolsch
Brewuk SoLA West Coast IPA - An absolute belter - pretty unanimous from all of my beer drinking friends regardless of their normal beer preference.

Will definitely brew DR Kolsch and BUK SoLA again soon.
Will brew MM Oberon but probably for next summer.

I'm going to have to try the SoLA again, as I don't think I did it justice first time around. Still very good, but could have done a better job with the dry hopping, and overprimed the mini kegs. Have corny's now though!

Just bought 2 AG kits from TMM - a Doom Bar clone and a Cali Common, based on a Jon Finch recipe.

Not brewed either before, so if anyone has brewed these, how did they turn out? Any tips?
