Ah that's where I went wrong, I looked in the general fruit juice aisle. Will know for next time.

So the first WOW is done, using 1ltr 100% Red Grape Juice from concentrate(sugar on carton says 15g per 100ml),1.5ltrs 100% Apple Juice from concentrate( sugar on carton says 9.2g per 100ml), all the other ingredients listed but used the juice of a lemon (no citric acid at Wilko) and put in 1/2 packet of the Wilko wine yeast @ 22c. SG 1.108
Fingers crossed

You didn't say how much sugar you added.

For a demijohn of wine you need to aim for 1100g for 13% ABV, You have 300g of sugar in the cartons so you needed to add 800g of sugar how much did you add?

Speaking of supermarket juices i see waitrose do a Merlot grape juice, has anybody used this?

I used one of those a couple of years ago, with 1.5l apple juice, like Chippy's recipe. It came out fine, although I couldn't guarantee it was any better than the standard red grape juice in the same situation.

OMG!
Had a BBQ with some friends and let the ladies have a taste of the the wilko ROSE they loved it and I've only got one bottle left!!!!
Higher authority says I'll have to do a few more....we'll happy

just taken a reading of the WOW and its at 990 and tastes very dry, but its looking good (still very dark)
Just racked it off to a clean DJ. I doubt there's any point in put stabilizer into it at that low reading?
Will degass over the next day and add some finings. For now only have the wilko ones, which are for 30 bottles so will have to guesstimate. May have to get some kwikclear

No need for stabilizer at that reading, assuming you want it dry.

Also probably don't need finings, if you rack off and swirl the demijohn a bit for degassing, then leave for a week or possibly two. It should drop clear.

Busy day brewing in the Bat Cave today
DJ1 - Wilko Rose as per instructions (higher authority is down to just 1 bottle of the 1st batch which I was going to save for Xmas)
DJ2 - WOW -1ltr 100% RGJ & 2ltrs 100% Apple juice from Aldi, not bad for 69p each, plus the other usual suspects and the 2nd half of the wilko's Gervin yeast(about 2ish g). This is an experiment from the last batch which was very dry and 15% (using the calculator) so only added 626g sugar, making a total of 1000g. Its an experiment so lets see how it goes

Have you tried the Wilko 30 bottle medium dry white?

The 2nd WOW has finished fermenting and again was at .990. To be honest its probably only good for cooking or clearing drains. Its very thin, has no real flavour to it and is very acidy. I did follow the recipe and using the brew fridge have good temp control. Plus i'm super pedantic on cleaning. So, not sure if it was because of the RGJ that was from the normal fruit juice aisle in Sainsburys and not the one from the refrigerated aisle, or i'm using tap water or i'm using too much water. Reading the WOW thread so many people are making good product with exactly the method. I wonder if I should go to ASDA and get the refrigerated RGJ & Apple juice as a comparison
Thoughts...

What juice did you use was it 100% juice or a juice drink?

Was it this -

DJ2 - WOW -1ltr 100% RGJ & 2ltrs 100% Apple juice from Aldi

If it was I don't know why it turned out thin.

Yes it was DJ2 the Apple juice was from Aldi but the RGJ was the one I picked up from Sainsburys. Think I'll put this down to experience and go to Asda and get the refrigerated RGJ and then double check everything as i do it.

If all juices you used were 100% juice i would be very surprised if you found it thin (watery) i normally only use 1 litre of RGJ and 1.5 litres of apple and we found them spot on.

Back from Asda with the RGJ as per the one in the pic and apple juice both from the refrigerated aisle (and all 100%...checked it twice!)
Just started this off as per the recipe (again checked everything twice), so lets see how this one goes.
The last lot at least cleaned the drains up lovely :laugh8:ashock1:laugh8:

Good luck!

Now polished off a few of bottles of my batch of Rosé (made with ASDA RGJ and apple juice all from chilled section) and it's actually not at all bad, especially nicely chilled with a meal.

Update on the WOW....round 2

Took a reading on Sunday and its at .990 and gave it a cheeky taste. Its about 500% better than the 1st go but really dry. That's what you get when you send an idiot to go and get the RGJ! At least the drains are still lovely and clear from the 1st lot

I think a little sweetening and I may get higher authority's approval
