I wasn't going to post this as I didn't want to add to it but I guess by now it's way too late.

I passed a village petrol station a couple of hours ago and there was a queue onto the road, I was surprised as it's normally very quiet, I came back pat it a few minutes ago and there must be 20 cars blocking the road queuing to get in, well done BBC for repeating that due to wagon driver shortage some fuel stations have closed and are waiting for supplies, there isn't a fuel shortage get a ******* grip people.

How are things where you live?

erm well apparently near where i work today it is mayhem.

I actually need to fill up as I am very low so god know what I am going to do.

the BBC really like to push fear on to people.

Not fully the beebs fault, nearly all the papers have run with it on front page and all the ministers up for interviews saying don't panic... Frankly it's first thing people do..

Surprised no one's logging on to their lhbs to top up malt yet

Its the same as some supermarkets have announced there will be shortages and some of the idiots have said there may be empty shelves at Christmas.
Makes me wonder if it is a sales ploy to get a immediate upturn in sales by them.
Passed My local ASDA petrol station you guessed it

It’s an absolute joke. Every road around here is chaos if there’s a petrol station on it due to queues outside. Most have Police directing traffic and Some are now closed as they’ve run out. There’s plenty of fuel about unless everyone goes to fill up at the same time, as they are now.
The media should just keep their mouths shut.
Oh, and apparently, there’s going to be a severe shortage of Christmas trees this year too so we are being advised to buy early. Great, I can’t wait to see what that will look like Christmas morning!,

I can imaging a lot of people fill up on a Friday after work they are going to get an unwelcome shock tonight.

They couldn't have said anything worse as soon as the plebs read - despite supply problems that have closed some stations it was obvious they would panic buy.

Are the army allowed to drive fuel tankers?

BBC News Two hours ago -

People should carry on buying petrol as normal, despite supply problems that have closed some stations, the government has said.

A "handful" of BP stations, and a small number of Esso-owned Tesco Alliance stations, were closed on Thursday because of a lack of delivery drivers.
But Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said refineries had "plenty of petrol".
He told the BBC that the government could bring in the army to drive fuel tankers if it would help.
It is estimated that the UK is short of about 100,000 HGV drivers - with gaps made worse by the pandemic and Brexit.
Reports in several newspapers have suggested that the government is considering getting soldiers to drive fuel tankers under emergency plans.
When questioned about this on BBC Breakfast, Mr Shapps said: "If it can actually help, we will bring them in."
However, he said there would be "technicalities" as to whether military personnel could switch to driving civilian vehicles.
The AA said that most of the UK's forecourts were working as they should.
"There is no shortage of fuel and thousands of forecourts are operating normally with just a few suffering temporary supply chain problems," said AA president Edmund King.
"Fridays and the weekend always tend to be busier on forecourts, as drivers either combine filling up with shopping runs, prepare for weekend trips or refuel for the start of the new working week."
Mr King said drivers should not fill up outside their normal routines, because even if the occasional petrol station was temporarily closed, others just down the road would be open.
"It is now clear that there have been occasional delays over recent weeks that have been managed with hardly anyone noticing. This was a manageable problem."
There are about 8,380 petrol stations in the UK, according to the Petrol Retailers Association. Of these, about 1% are believed to be closed at the moment.
It is understood that about 50 to 100 BP forecourts are affected by shortages, while Esso said "a small number" of its Tesco Alliance retail sites had been hit.

I'm a tanker driver and I've had one serious s#@t day today because of these idiots. Can't even get to the garages because of the queues, then have an argument with the public because I want to shut the site to deliver fuel that they want to buy. The only shortage in this country is brain cells. There is no fuel shortage, yes a driver shortage but we've been managing, just, even thru staycation, This has really messed things up it will take us days to restock, they asked me to do an extra shift tomorrow to help out but why should I get up at 2 am knowing I'm going to have a **** day. Let them run dry, stay at home and don't drive this weekend, go out for a walk with the wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, kids, dog or just stay home and brew. I'm glad I'm on nights next week. I've had my rant sorry, have a good weekend everyone, I'm going to chill out with my freshly kegged riwaka pale ale 🍺🍺

The army can't deliver fuel as they need a PDP, Petroleum Drivers Passport to be able to load in a terminal, but I'm sure someone will find a way round it

They were discussing bringing the army in on 5 live today i wondered how that would work (or not)

Yeh I heard that on the radio, I'll quite happily sit next to a squaddie all day and let him do the driving and I'll just load and discharge it for him(I'm talking about the fuel) 😁. They're talking about letting the Europeans back in temporarily to help out but they're the ones that have caused the **** pay and T&CS in the first place (not all of them so don't take it the wrong way, just some section of the hgv industry). IR35 and Brexit has caused this along with the pandemic. This isn't chilling out, I'm on my soap box!! No more replies, I'll be back Monday 🍺

I needed fuel so went to the garage nearby...a few extra cars there but nothing silly...I then nipped into town to do the weekly shop at asda...carnage! Traffic for fuel was queuing off the forecourt but the supermarket was empty (,of people).

Its crazy here i doubt our two stations will have anything left by the weekend, if they get more they are going to have to restrict how much customers can buy or the panic buyers will empty the tanks again.
The good thing for me is i am running my car on Shell V-power (E5) as my car is old and i don't trust what we have been told about this E10 stuff, as V-power is more expensive tightwads will look elsewhere rather than buy it so i should be fine.
(selfish i know)

E5 is 5% ethonal, E10 is 10% ethanol, from what I've been told is :- ethanol eats/corrodes the fuel pipes, this is why they're covering their arses by saying what they say. Just fill up 50-50. Those with petrol lawnmowers and strimmers just make sure you store them empty over winter or with something that preserves the fuel. Even with E5 my strimmers pipes corroded. Disclaimer - I'm not an expert but Im also not scaremongering like the government who force you to buy super unleaded.

Big E10 thread - E10 fuel.

In the video in my OP he says E10 is corrosive and goes on to say it can attack parts not originally fitted to the car even if your car is OK to run on it, if you haven't owned the car from new you do not know if the car has had original replacement parts or cheapo ones fitted, i haven't had my car long and have no idea about its history the extra £4 it will cost me when i fill the tank (once a month as i don't do may miles) is nothing compared to the amount it may cost if this stuff damages it.
