A Tripel to get me through the darts

New one to me:

Oh. That wasn't what I was expecting. Tastes sweetish, brown sugary, even. Vague childhood memories of Mackeson, but stronger, of course.

Will not buy again. ☹

Was dumping some of the old cashmere pale ales sitting in the fridge and I decided to pull out the Orval dregged belgian pale I brewed a while back. It's lovely now, has that beautiful Brett funk you get in an aged Orval. I think I will brew another batch and dump a bottle of this in the fermenter.

I’m starting tonight with a guest beer from @Griff097. This one is labelled as a Speckled Hen clone at 5.5%

The beer is fairly softly carbonated with a small nearly-white head that dispersed quickly to a ring of bubbles round the glass and then hung around. The beer is Amber in colour and is crystal clear.

The aroma is bready malt and a little toffee. The flavour is nice but I’m afraid the beer doesn’t taste like Speckled Hen. It is malty and there’s a good bitterness though. There is a little sweetness and a slight tackiness on my lips so I suspect a medium attenuation yeast. There are subtle fruity notes too that I think might be stone fruit? The finish is a lingering bitterness - and then it’s all gone!

Thank you!

One of the beers that the son and DIL got us for Christmas. They like the brewery because the DIL is originally from near there. It is using new English hops apparently. It is very nice! 👌🏻

Hi Lisa have you looked at the hops on CML they have a tropical English mix which I am going to order. I wonder if it uses some of the same hops as it is supposed to be the newest of English styles, I expect it to be only slightly fruity but does sound as if it would go with a English Blonde/Golden
