Anyone doing it? I've disconnected my kegs, filled the lines with clean water and I'm having a couple of weeks off. A full month would be too much but a couple of weeks should be manageable.

No but i will be eating and drinking considerably less over the next few months

I’ve never been one to drink to excess anyway - 3 pints on a Friday night and the same on a Saturday is my usual.

I’m going to be stricter about my eating and drinking because I’ve been off the rails over Christmas and I’d been finding it hard to get to the gym at lunchtimes since I got my promotion in the summer. The head of finance (my boss’s boss) got me into trouble last month when I said I had not been getting my lunchtime gym sessions so looks like I’ll be back to 3 lunchtimes a week plus my usual weekend mornings when I’m back on Wednesday.

Yup, but stating on Sunday. I’ve got a nice amber ale that should be ripe for February.

Probably not this year. I just kegged a beer for the first time at the weekend and itching to try it out. I will however drastically cutting down over the next few months as I have overindulged during a long break off work before Christmas and now found that my work uniform must have shrunk in the cupboard when I was off !

I see there's a lot of good intentions rather than formal commitments to the month and as mentioned the time can be used to produce rather than consume. My own dark mild won't be conditioned and ready until February.

B all s to that - I've only just recovered from major heart surgery and my consumption is less than 1/2 what it used to be anyway, plus no more than 20g sat fat a day. I've not been tiddled since the op, so not cutting down from my all time xmas low score wink... .

p.s. I found out a chocolate is 10% of my sat fat allowance which really peed on my chips at xmas. however wheat crunchies are much lower in sat fat so swings and roundabouts.

p.p.s - I cycled to spoons and had a pint of leffe blond with 8 chicken bites instead of pepperoni pizza, so small achievable steps and all that.

Well you made me think I had not planned to go dry and certainly not for a whole month but I have had too much over the new year etc and after tonight I will give it a wide birth for 2 weeks.
the other reason apart from your post is the wife has already given up for a few weeks so I said I would support her for at least 2 weeks by drinking alcohol free on Saturday night(our usual have a drink and catch up with our fave tv progs) so Alcohol free reviews for me for the next 2 weeks :beer1: :laugh8:

Same here back to weekends only. I drank more wine than beer this Christmas some days/nights it was 2 bottles of wine and some beers after. I might do a few weekends off it as well to allow the gut to shrink. But after the shitests of years last year was a dry January actually puts the fear in me.

That will make for grim reading then as I’ve not found a decent af beer despite what they tell you in the marketing

Well no i won't be doing it but, my last keg is about ready to kick so i will have four empty kegs, i have a fair bit of grain and hops i need to use, so will be a few shop bought for 3 weeks not to many i had more than my share over the last couple of weeks

I'm going to attempt to be dry during the week and only drink on weekends.
But....

Great Christmas but that's it, never drinking again. And by never, I mean until weekends. I should also mention that I refuse to conform to societal constructs of what constitutes "weekday" and "weekend" and reserve the right to initiate 'the weekend' at any time I see fit. Glad I've cleared that up🙂
