I give with my dismal photography,, but this is this naval encounter between @Tanglefoot's Admiral IPA and mine! :D

The pic does neither justice. Mine, on the left, is much more a yellowish 'light bitter; colour, although beautifully clear. Tanglefoot's is more an ochre Black Sheep kinda colour. To my uncultured tastebud's T's has a strong hoppiness which mine definitely lacks. I'll have to check the recipe, it's hard to believe both brews were brewed with the same hops. Or maybe even malts, going by the colour difference.

Carbonation on point for both beers.

This was my recipe (10 litre batch):

2500 g Crisp Best Ale
35 g dark Crystal
140 g Caramalt
9 g Admiral @60
6 g Challenger @ -15
6 g Fuggles @ -10

6 g Admiral + 5 g Challenger hopstand.

Honestly, I prefer mine! 😛But that's because I'm not a fan of that strong hop flavour. It reminds me of something I used to drink as a kid, Ruddles County, maybe? But I'd be interested to hear T's comments, as I wonder if his beer didn't travel so well (as some just don't seem to); certainly it took weeks from arrival to eventually clear.

Mine was 52 IBU, I like that bitterness which is part of Admiral's attraction for me as a high alpha hop.
EBC was 16, out of the keg it was much lighter straw coloured to your description, though was brewed in November so getting on now !

@Tanglefoot

I didn't plug in the IBU of mine, perhaps I'll do it tomorrow. I suspect it will be less. And I'm sure you're right about the colour. Just checking, mine was brewed 4th Feb, so a lot later. But thanks for that, and I think it was worth delaying to get a fairer taste.

It might be the difference between two different stocks of hops as much as anything. Did you have proportionately more hops than me, @Tanglefoot?

Our hop schedules were slightly different although both bittered with Admiral ( mine was whole hops 14.8 % AA )
You used Challenger/Fuggles late boil and I used Challenger/Target as late additions, hopstand and dry hop.

I enjoyed both and would give your recipe a go for sure 👍

Yup. Founders is owned by San Miguel mahou so I think it based on their all day IPA. San Miguel did one called Manila a couple of years back and it was ok. As an aside went into consum supermarket for said mahou and it was next to bottles of St Austell Tribute at 1.50 euro a pop. Doh!
Consum? Don't think we've got one near us (near Coin), but Carrefour seem to have a reasonable selection..

This one is very interesting indeed. I never understood why beer tasters mentioned tobacco having never smoked, but now I do!

Pomona Island Chocolate, Honey & Almond Stout. Tastes exactly how tobacco smells!
