Hi - thought I'd see if anyone is kind enough to give me a bit of feedback on a recipe to use up some of what I have leftover for a brew this weekend.

I have the following:

Maris Otter - Plenty
Crystal (Medium, 50L i think) - 100G
Carapils - 600g

East kent Goldings - 75g
Challenger - 150g
Simcoe - 65g
Columbus - 50g
Centennial - 38g

1 pack of S-04 yeast

Was thinking of an APA along the lines of:

5KG - MO
100g - Crystal
300g - Carapils

60 Min mash at 68 degrees
60 Min boil

20g Columbus - 60Mins
15g Simcoe - 15mins
50g Simcoe - 1min

That gives me about:
1.050 - OG
1.012 - FG
5.00% ABV
50IBU's

Any thoughts or suggestions? Alternatively was thinking of an English pale due to yeast and Kent Goldings, but thought I would need a bit more Crystal (or other malt).

Thanks

If you have enough Maris otter do two brews. One as you say with challenger and EKG the other with the American hops as above. Plus centiniel too
That yeast will work with both

Make an English Golden ale like Exmoor Gold or Summer Lightning. Basically the same recipe. For 22 litres
5000g MOl
200g Carapils (optional)

40g Challenger @60m
15g EKG @15m
25g EKG @20m hopstand @85C

Funnily enough Summer Lightening was responsible for the leftover Challenger and EKG. That keg is about ready now and I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.

I'll make the APA first to use some of the leftover US hops (from a Pliny The Elder clone) and then probably follow up with an attempt at the Exmoor Gold once that Summer Lightening kegs dropped a bit.

I think the Pliny will get emptied fairly quickly, so need another West Coast/hoppy one on the go first really
