After a 12 month+ lay off from brewing, for a couple of reasons, I’ve just done 2 extract kit brews from the Mangrove Jacks range that I’ve had in my fridge for around 12months or so. An IPA and an American pale ale. They went off ok and are both bubbling away nicely. The IPA is in my brew fridge and the APA is on my kitchen table wrapped up in a quilt. So now I’m getting back into the swing of brewing I’m going to be looking at an all in one system again, i had to put it on hold when i was looking last year and i was originally looking at the Hopcat which was around the £300 if i remember right, couldn’t believe it when i went back on their site yesterday and saw it had gone up to £499, so I’m looking now at a Robobrew system which is around £380, has anybody got any views on this system. Also i have a full 25kg bag of maris otter malt that has been in my cellar for about 15 months still in it’s original bag never opened, i bought it through the group bulk buy and have never had chance to use it. Will it still be usable now do you think or is it past it’s life expectancy. Well it’s good to be back and i look forward to hearing your views. Cheers Pete.

Hi Pete

The BBE date should be on the front of the sack of malt - the bags we buy usually have a BBE of 18 to 24 months

Particularly as it's not been opened, I believe that it should fine.
