i have had 3 jabs and never had covid and no i don't stay in and hide behind the sofa,

Me, SWMBO and my Son had all three jabs we are all front line workers so have worked every day since the pandemic started, my son got Covid two months ago but it was very mild (no worse than a cold) we live in a small house so no chance of isolating and me and SWMBO never got it, it appear the vaccine is doing its job.

It would be interesting to see how many of these now catching it have had all three.

We’ve had all four …

… and hoping that No.5 is with the winter ‘flu jab!

Can’t agree enough that the vaccine appears to be doing its job, as neither SWMBO or myself have contracted Covid!

Waved cheerio to SWMBO this morning as she headed off to Scotland for a fortnight to look after great-granddaughter!

Apparently, on the two trains she has taken so far (Sleaford > Doncaster > Edinburgh) she was the only person wearing a mask!

We still don’t believe it’s all over!

Here we go again.

Face mask rules return at Cornwall NHS hospitals
Hospital patients, staff and visitors will be required to wear face masks again, as cases of Covid-19 have risen "significantly".
The rule will apply at all of Cornwall's hospitals, minor injury units and treatment centres from Monday, 4 July, health bosses said.
Two new sub-variants were blamed for the rise in cases locally and nationally, while services were already "under sustained pressure".
The measure will remain under review.
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) said there had been steady increases in the number of healthcare staff testing positive for Covid-19, adding to additional strain on resources.
Kim O'Keeffe, dual chief nurse for the trust and for Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CFT) said: "Recently, we've seen a rise in cases again and it's crucial we use the tools at our disposal to help protect not only our patients, but visitors and our colleagues too."
"Making mask wearing a requirement once again for staff is a decision we've taken at a time when we were already under sustained system pressure.
She asked that people "be kind to staff, who've been working incredibly hard to protect patients throughout the pandemic."
CFT and RCHT's current policy on visiting arrangements remains unchanged.
Staff, patients, and visitors are still asked to continue to wash hands frequently with soap and water and use the alcohol gel provided, in addition to wearing facemasks.

Blimey, never thought I'd see Kim o' keeffes on the homebrew forum. She's as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Have now been in the UK for 5 months, and am amazed how uninformed the populace is regarding Covid ... I am generalising of course ...
However, the majority of people I have spoken to are ignorant of some or all of the following ...
- the death rate from covid is hardly different from that of 'flu'
- haven't a clue with regards to "early treatment protocols"
- haven't a clue re the necessity of Zinc; quertecine; vits C & D etc
- never heard of the "Frontline Doctors" who have been successfully treating and curing covid (two that I am acquainted with ... Dr. Shankar Chetty in South Africa and Dr. Jacqui Stone in Zimbabwe (more about Jacqui later) both of whom have to date treated well over 7000 each ..
Not forgetting Dr. Tess Lawrie in the UK
- haven't a clue that there are two drugs that are readily available (off'patent !! ), very safe, and extremely low cost (thus no big profits for big pharma) ... namely 'hydroxychloroquine' and 'ivermectin' .... that are EXTREMELY efficacious in the treatment of covid (my wife and I can vouch for the HUGE turnaround we experienced with ivermectin)
- I could go on but I am sure you get my point

Instead I have found that people here, when they get covid, do very little to help themselves ... forgive me I am generalising again
My sister in law was one of those I spoke to in this regard she was doing nothing .... got her on to quertecine and Zinc (the twno need to go togethet)
I have also noticed the fearful ... wearing marks in public yet climbing on abd off busses, handling supermarket trolleys with ungloved hands ...!!!???

The fact is that covid is now ENDEMIC throughout the world, none of us will be able to escape it... in one form or another ... either mild or serious.
About my experience ...
Living in South Africa by mid to late 2020 evidence as emerging of doctors who had observed that there was a very low infection rate in regions where malaria was prevalent and treated with hydroxychloraquine... ditto 'Nile River blindness' and Ivermectin
Their trials with these two drugs gave startlingly excellent results (I've already mentioned Dr's. Chetty and Stone, but there are many many others.
Because I have had malaria on numerous occasions since I was a child I was well acquainted with hydroxychloroquine ... having self dosed with it on many occasions ...
So when Pfizer et-al were burbling about it being dangerous to use I knew that it was TOTAL BS !!!
And I asked the question "Why?"
Profits of course ... off-patent and cheap ditto ivermectin
By then the efficacy of the mRNA so-called vaccine was seriously in question (today people with multiple jabs are getting covid including that arch-advocate Fauci)
My wife and I decided we would not go that route, and instead stocked up on the vits etc already mentioned.
We also decided to follow Dr. Stones protocols if and when the need arose ...
Which it did in March 2021 .... in my case ... I started to feel somewhat run-down, and put it down a cold which lingered for about 10 days and included a debilitating lethargy .... I did not make the connection, (,I am a bit thick you know) ..

Untill one.morning my wife woke up and told me she had full-blown covid ... she had many of the classic symptoms ..
We started on the vits and I shot off to get the ivermection through a connection and we self dosed ...
(One dose per day for 5 days)
And ...
Just as Jacqui Stone (and others)said ... "within 12 to 48 hours after an early (!!!) and appropriate (!!!) dose you will feal markedly improved"
The very next morning when we awoke we both felt marjedly better
My wife's symptoms had dissipated considerably, and I no longer felt that debilitating weariness.
After 3 doses (on day four) my wife declared herself completely recovered !!
I did not feel old self untill 7 days after starting the treatment ( I presume because I had incubated the lurgy for longer ?? )

I would recommend that you all read up on early treatment protocols
Stock up on what is required and keep it in your medicine cabinet because you will need it one day !!
PS my wife and I are in our mid 70's haven't taken the jab and never will, have a supply of ivermection and then other stuff mentioned
And in this regard we are no different to many many friends and neighbours amongst whom we lived and socialised 'normally'(ie hugs, handshakes, kisses, meals etc. And no masks)
Many of whom caught covid and shrugged it off with the same treatments I've mentioned
Will we get it again??? Pretty certain we will but having had it once we we now know what to expect and will deal with it
One last thing .... compared to malaria, covid is chickenshit :)

... and don't forget our inate immune system ....
I got my knuckles rapped for the first reply, here goes again.

- the death rate from covid is hardly different from that of 'flu'
That's completely wrong. The most recent pandemic flu took over 4 years to amass a total global death toll of around 1 million. Covid has killed 6.5 million in half that. They are not even close to being the same

- haven't a clue re the necessity of Zinc; quertecine; vits C & D etc
Zinc/Vitamen C doesn't work. See Thomas S et al. JAMA Netw Open. 2021;4(2):e210369.
Vitamin D doesn't work. See Jolliffe et al. pre-print available here
Quertecine has been touted by proven quack Joseph Mercola, who makes the agent, based on computer simulations only with no clinical data

- never heard of the "Frontline Doctors" who have been successfully treating etc
The plural of anecdote is not evidence and Tess Lowrie is no stanger to promoting conspiracy theories. For a more detailed discussion on that see here.

No they're not, not even close. See here for a current review of Ivermectin evidence, hyrdoxychloroquine has been dead in the water for over a year now.

- I could go on but I am sure you get my point
Please don't, and yes I have. You have just rehashed the all the usual science-denial tropes that makes my blood boil and led to the original reply that got censured.

"And don't forget our innate immune system"
What you've forgotten is that it is the innate immune system that has orchestrated the death from sepsis and organ failure of over 6 million Covid victims world wide.

Apart from the news reports, a number of people in my wider social circle died of the early versions of covid. Comparing the early versions against the Omicron version is comparing chalk and cheese. I have had Omicron, it’s doing the rounds at present. I remain bloody glad I didn’t get it in the early days and I’m very happy to be triple jabbed, thank you.

I think the biggest difference is likely the vaccine being in my 30s I wasn’t overly worried about catching it in the first and second wave (although still glad I managed to avoid it) but was far more worried about my parents who are in their sixties so was glad they managed to avoid it until recently it wasn’t great for them but on par with a bad cold (they are both fully vaccinated). For me when I finally caught it it was very mild which again could have being luck but I suspect being fully vaccinated helped ensure that it was a mild annoyance of not being able to go out and about for a week rather than anything more serious.

Vitamin D doesn't work. See Jolliffe et al. pre-print available here
I've been taking vitamin D supplements since the beginning of covid as there were clinical trials which reported much better outcomes for hospitalised patients if they were previously taking vit D compared to those who weren't. The paper you quoted (I read the abstract) only concerned whether or not people actually caught the virus. That's a different thing altogether.

Agree completely with this. My husband, I and our son have taken high dose vit D (5000iu), K2 and vit C for years, none of us have had covid and my husband was tested regularly at work. We stock ivermectin/zinc just in case. None of us have had the jab either.

Almost, but not quite. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with a poorer outcome. This is to be expected to a degree, pre-existing health disorders impact on critical care outcomes across the board.

It is ok to say that correction of Vitamin D deficiency is protective against risk of progression to a need for critical care in the event of Covid infection.

It doesn’t follow that Vitamin D supplementation in the absence of a pre-existing deficiency is protective. Having said that, Vitamin D deficiency is more common at our latitude and supplementation is sensible, particular if you’ve got a darker skin type. The danger is that Covidiots and vaccine deniers spin this message the wrong way in an attempt to convince people that Vit D is a viable alternative to vaccination when it isn’t.

See here for a recent meta analysis on impact of Vit D deficiency and disease severity. Vitamin D Status and SARS-CoV-2 Infection and COVID-19 Clinical Outcomes

This is an argument that can never be won, all you get is more claptrap, also to say we don't need to were a mask is wrong, the other day i had to see my cardiac nurse at the hospital and had to were a mask, in that enviroment i might meet 20 people tops outside i will encounter hundreds some of whom may have covid, i don't were a mask outside my choice but i don't condone those who do, if you have a good diet you don't need extra vits, last week i had a full fasting blood test everything checked out ok colestrol was 3.1 which is really good for a 69 year old the cardiac nurse signed me off and said i will see you in 12 months, also did you know that real ale is the only thing in the world that contains all 14 building blocks for human life so get it down yer neck athumb..

Yet the recent meta analysis you quote states
As secondary endpoints, we also found a significant association between vitamin D status and the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection and hospitalization. Taken together our results indicate that 25OHD is a marker of COVID-19 in-hospital severity and suggest that a good vitamin D status might have a protective role on COVID-19 clinical outcomes and even decrease the risk of becoming infected by SARS-CoV-2.

This is indeed the largest meta-analysis so far realized considering the available studies regarding the relationship between vitamin D status and COVID-19, involving more than a million individuals.

Yes, vitamin D status, that’s the point I’m making.
Vitamin D is cheap so I don’t understand why they didn’t offer it at a higher dose than 400iu to the elderly etc, it might have kept more out of hospital. I remember my mum couldn’t take it though as she was on blood thinners so it’s always as well to check.

Because you correct deficiency with that dose. As I have said, Vit D deficiency is a significant risk factor of ARDS (a particular respiratory complication in critically Ill patients) developing in Covid patients.
Not all Vit D deficient covid patients will end up with ARDS, and not all patients who develop ARDS will be Vit D deficient.
There is a point in avoiding Vit D deficiency, something even the pale skinned in the UK should consider.
There is no point in taking Vit D if you don’t need it, or taking a higher dose than is required to be safely effective.

What the science deniers will have you believe that Vitamin D is inherently good for you, and the more of it you take the merrier. That is not a view that stands up to proper scrutiny, but it fits with their anti-vax agenda and so has gained traction in the usual echo chambers.
