A woman has been filmed apparently playing with a Rubik's Cube while driving on the M61 near Bolton.
She is shown resting the 3D puzzle on the steering wheel and using both hands to try to solve it.
The man who filmed it, Macauley Stephens, said he reported the incident, which happened on 1 July, to police via Twitter.
Greater Manchester Police said "as a rule" they do not investigate reports they receive via social media.

No way.....

Rubik's cube?

Don't believe it....

I reckon she was definitely rolling a fag.

Used to do it all the time in my Reliant Regal van.
Piece of cake. Just steer with your knees. If you adjust the seat properly for this, what can go wrong???
Safe as houses - and I only had the van on 2 wheels twice.
Fortunately, both times with 2 hands on the steering wheel.
Mind you, on straight sections of the A5, I used to roll a couple of spare ones so that I was able to concentrate on the tricky bits through N Wales.

I wouldn't do it now, but living in the Grampian Mountains, where there was very little traffic at any time of the day, I have to admit to driving home because I was too drunk to walk and often steering with my knees whilst rolling a fag or shaving. (Back in those days a lot of things were socially acceptable even though they were against the law; especially out in the sticks where the only person you were likely to kill was yourself!)

Anyway, about this time I was telling a French friend about the fag rolling and the shaving (she was complaining that her husband had just been caught speeding on the Nantes peripherique for the 4th time) and she said "Oh, but what would you do if you passed a police car whilst you were shaving?"

"I would just drop my hands down to the steering wheel and pretend I was scratching my face." I replied.

"But would't they see the soap on your face?" she asked ...:doh:

... and it was then that I realised her husband didn't use an electric razor!

Happy Days! :thumb:

A reliant owner you don't hear that often, I had the regal van and a robin car, I had the van on two wheels more than once.
For those here wondering what we are talking about the regal van is what the trotters drove in fools and horses.

I remember going past a young girl and she was driving and putting mascara on at the same time.. It wasn't the motorway and was city driving but still

She wouldn't have done that in a regal van she would have had her eye out.

Did yours catch fire?
I passed one once in flames at the side of the road. And someone I know stopped to help a Reliant owner who's three wheeler was in flames and was then told that this had happened to him before with his previous one.
I have been on two wheels in an old Bond three wheeler. I felt the Grim Reaper had beckoned.....

No I was lucky (or some would say unlucky) and neither caught fire, I did wreck a door once when the wind caught it and it ripped the hinges etc out of the fibreglass, that was an expensive repair.
The bond bug was quite a head turner in its day, I have read many stories of the engine going bang which was a worry as the top of it was sat next to you under a flimsy cover.

I knew someone with one of those. A bit like a motorised three wheel satsuma.
The one I had fright in appears to be a Mark G from searching tinterweb with a 250cc Villiers (2 Stroke?) engine. Massive pulling power for three passengers .
Nevertheless it was a step up from the Bond Minicar which was the definitive shoe box on three wheels

I'm proud to say that I have NEVER even sat in a Reliant and here's why.

As a policeman back in the 60's I attended a motorbike accident where the rider had been decapitated in what could only be described as a "freak accident". A few months after this incident I pulled over to the side of the road to check out a Reliant Robin that had obviously turned over, slid into a ditch and lost its roof in the process.

There was plenty of blood splashed about inside the main body of the vehicle but no sign of the driver, so I wandered over to where the roof was laying in the ditch and my stomach did somersaults to thoughts of "Please Lord, not again!" when I saw a crash helmet alongside the roof.

I fully expected the driver's head to be inside when I turned the helmet over so it came as a great relief to discover that it was empty ... :thumb: :thumb:

... and to find out later that the driver had been taken to hospital by a Good Samaritan with nothing worse than a bleeding nose; which is where all the blood had come from.

I carried on riding motorbikes well into my 60's but I wouldn't touch a Reliant with a long, long pole! :nono: :nono:

I still do. Just bought another one :thumb:.

My knees just gave out. In cold weather I couldn't straighten them out quick enough to cope with an emergency stop.

SWMBO was on the back when I discovered this one February and later asked why I had tilted the Pan European over at an angle of +/-30 degrees when we stopped at some temporary traffic lights on the A1.

I "heeded the Gypsy warning" as they say and decided to stop riding motorbikes.

However, I've now got two new knees ... :thumb: :thumb:

... but SWMBO threatens to murder me in my sleep if I get another motorbike; and I believe her!

Plus I now ride one of these instead:

I was once hitchiking to London with a friend in the 70s and we got a lift from Durham in a big lorry . The guy from Lancashire waited until he got past Durham where the police are apparently alert and then dug out his primus stove and frying pan and proceeded to cook us bacon for sandwiches as he was driving his articulated lorry. Although the food was good we couldn't wait to get out as he was nutty as a fruitcake!

The bond bug for those interested -

Been there...
I've downsized to an MT-07, weighing 170 kg, which is about half the wet weight of a Pan! It's like riding a push bike and good for ageing joints. :thumb:

Was faced with an approaching head on collision only yesterday as a moron on his phone started drifting across the road straight towards us. Luckily i hit the horn in time to see the retard look up and swerve back over to his own side of the road.

Just as dangerous as drink driving and should be treated the same. Instant 3 year Ban and Multi ££££ thousand pound fine.

There is NO EXCUSE

Couldn't agree more (yeah, sensible and boring I know...) but unless it's a life or death situation you've no reason to be dicking about with a phone when you're at the wheel.

Three-wheelers aren't all bad!

My very first car was a BSA three-wheeler (2 front - 1 back) V-twin (powered by 2 x 500cc BSA bike engines) it cost me £15 in 1959. I forget the letter of the Law but, as far as I can remember, I was allowed to drive it at 16 years old because I had blocked off the reverse gear! :thumb:

Two memories are:

1. The "flexible couplings" to the front wheels were home-made from two lumps of conveyor belting that my Dad nicked off the NCB!

2. I defied my Mum by leaving school and going to sea. Back after my first trip I discovered that Mum had sold my BSA Three-wheeler on the basis "You don't need a car now that you are at sea."

Happy Days! :thumb: :thumb:

Been riding for 40 years and never crashed (dont know if i should say that out loud)

Currently riding a Victory Vegas 1634cc 120 hp 8 Ball, and a Ducati Monster 796.

So many Zombies out there now though. You can see them staring down into their laps at their phones whilst hurtling along. Total insanity!

I think its time they admitted even talking on hands free is a distraction and banned all use of phones while driving, they should make it a banning offence and make the fines much higher, if they don't these idiots will not stop using them.
