Does anyone else's significant other glaze over when you start to passionately try to share your knowledge of our wonderful hobby? Ive just been explaining why we should go to love brewing today to pick up 2 kits and spare bucket for bottling and she just picked her phone up and pretended she couldn't hear me! The cheek!!

Yup. Mine has got to the stage where she just says yes and no in all the right places and makes appreciative noises when I plonk a glass of something that ticks the taste test !
She's stopped moaning at the amount of equipment now so think we're moving on a little !

I really think they should realise what a catch us hip, punk, edgy homebrewers are.
We're off to reading beer and cider festival latter and i even bought the fast track tickets, I know I spoil her but what the hey..

God yes. I get "you sound like your speaking a foreign language or I'm not interested in how you make it, just the end product"
Had to go to love brewing myself last Sunday. Tell the wife we need another fv, the big bucket thing she says, you've got two already. Yes but this ones bigger and it's got.........whatever she says.
Not interested but she can't half quaff it.

Pretty much the same here. I can't contain my enthusiasm for my hobbies but once I go off on one the missus looks at me as if I've just landed from Mars or summat. Ye she'd damn well know about it if I stopped making her wine, about which she has no idea whatsoever but can certainly shift it. Suppose I can't complain - I have free reign to do whatever I want with no whining or complaining and she gets the same reaction from me when she starts talking about new curtains and stuff like that which women have an unexplainable fascination with.

My SHMO is a pharmaceutical scientist and a bit of a geek, so never really gets bored of my brewing talk.
She likes drinking all styles of beer too.

Hi!
As long as I keep my SWMBO supplied with copious amounts of homemade wine, she cares little what I do.
When I did a wet run of the new recirculating mash system, I excitedly called her to see - she was distinctly underwhelmed.

Worst thing I ever done was teach her how to really appreciate a single malt. Got to share every bottle I get now....gutted.

This doesn't sound like a problem. As long as she allows u the time to make a brew

We went to her mum and dads today, as we're driving she says 'are we going to love brewing on the way then Hun?' She looked gutted when I said nah I've got all the ingredients I need for about 6 brews, proper disappointed she was  She loves poking around the malts and grains, and looking at the shiny stuff for some reason, not complaining mind!

I must be lucky my mrs is quite into homebrewing, and I've even had her helping with cleaning bottles :). She does comment on the amount of equipment that I seem to need...... so she should be pleased when I tell her about one of these all in one systems (braumeister) I'm thinking of buying, it's a space saver!

My missus dopesnt complain, buit looks sadly uninterested when ever I approach the topic.

However she wont drink homebrew as all she will drink is Smirnoff vodka.

Ive tried her with wine of all types but I just cant get her over.

Atl least all the beer I make is mine when I drink it.

And to be honest she doesn't know what homebrew kit ive got she just sees buckets hanging about. and loads of empty bottles.

But she does print off my lables in colour for me when she is at work.

Walked past the HB'ing shop n pop in to say hello!
Once out...she's said "that's 5 minutes I'll not get back!"
So with her saying "do you want to watch BGT With me?"
I said "that's an hour I never get back!"
Head phones on and laptop...
Peace at last!

I do think one of the keys to a successful relationship is the ability for both partners to be able to look interested, nod, and say yes and no in all the right places without hearing a single word the other person is saying.

My brewing is "tolerated" as it is now an important part of our business:grin: Though, when my partner does the "brewery face" (glazed, small amount of drool in the corner of the mouth) I know it's time to STFU,,,,,, but, I'm so chuffed she loves my beer, and now cider!!! Happy days:thumb:

I've just been trying to discuss the merits of a Saison yeast with HWMBO. Took 30 seconds before he glazed over........
